No parking on borough streets between the hours of 12 midnight to 7 am from November 1st to April 1st.
All sidewalks on Pennsylvania Avenue must be cleared of snow and ice within 24 hours after a storm. This is the responsibility of the property owner whose property abuts the walk.
All dogs must be on a leash and licensed. All animal feces must be picked up by owner.
Outdoor fires and burning are prohibited in the borough except for barbeque grills or other cooking devices.
All trees in public right of way are the responsibility of the resident whose property abuts the public right of way.
Two trash cans are permitted per property. If more than two are required such as for a multifamily house, a permit for additional cans may be purchased for $75.00 per can, up to six in total. If more than six cans are required, the property owner must contract a private hauler for a dumpster. Call the borough office for more information (570-491-2771).
Recycling is optional. To have curbside recycling call Shields Container Service at (570) 296-2351.
Yard sales require a permit. They are free of charge. Limit of 5 per year. Permits may be obtained at the borough office or by calling (570)-491-2771 and register by phone. Business hours are 8:00 Am to 3:00 PM, Monday through Friday.
Leaves and yard waste will be picked up at curb side during the season on a weekly basis. All leaves and yard waste must be put in a trash can type receptacle and marked “Yard Waste”. No plastic bags are permitted. In the autumn, leaves will be collected via the leaf vacuum. All leaves are to be put in wind rows at curb side for pick up.
Once a year, typically in May, the borough sponsors a “Clean Up Day”. Dumpsters will be available at the borough barn (behind the fire house) for dropping off rubbish that is not regular garbage at a nominal fee. This event is advertised in the papers each year.
The first Friday of each month the emergency sirens are tested at 1:00 PM. The Matamoras Emergency radio frequency is 1630 AM. Should the sirens be heard at any other time, tune in to this station for details.
