Notices to Matamoras Residents:

Due to M.L.K. Day, Garbage Pick-up will be delayed one day the week of 1/20/20.

Committee Openings:

The Matamoras Building Appeal Board: Meetings are scheduled as needed.

The Matamoras Zoning Hearing Board: Meetings are scheduled as needed.

The Matamoras Planning Commission: Meets the 3rd Tuesday of every month at 7:00 pm.

Recreation Advisory Board: Meets the 2nd Tuesday at 6:00 pm. Work sessions are scheduled as needed on the 3rd Monday of the month at 6:00 pm.

2020 Holiday Schedule

With the exception of holidays, garbage pickup for the Borough of Matamoras is every Monday for Ave. A through Pennsylvania Ave. and Tuesday for Ave. L through Airport Park. If a holiday falls on a Monday then both pickup days are delayed 1 day. If a holiday falls on Tuesday, ONLY Tuesday pick is delayed 1 day.  For Christmas, depending on the day off the week December 24th falls on, pickup maybe delayed 2 days. Code Reminders:

A. 

After any such emergency shall have been declared, it shall be unlawful, during the period of such emergency, for any person to park a motor vehicle or to allow the same to remain parked on any street or portion thereof on which signs have been placed pursuant to § 118-41 below or to operate any motor vehicle on any such street or portion thereof unless such vehicle shall be equipped with adequate equipment to provide sufficient traction to keep such vehicle in motion so that other traffic on such highways will not be blocked or seriously impeded.

B. 

No person shall cause any snow and/or ice to be placed upon any borough street after the street has been plowed. The owner of the property from which any such snow and/or ice shall originate shall be responsible for such violation.
Parking is hereby prohibited on all streets of the borough at any and all times between the hours of 12:00 midnight and 7:00 a.m. from November 1 of each year to April 1 of the following year.
[Added 5-8-2018 by Ord. No. 333 ] No sports equipment may be placed in the right-of-way from November 1 to April 1 of the year.

A.

It shall be unlawful for boys and girls under 18 years of age, such persons being defined for the purposes of this chapter as “children,” to be or remain in or on any of the streets, alleys, parks or public places in the Borough of Matamoras at night after the time of 11:00 p.m. and until 6:00 a.m. during the period from November 3 to September 30, inclusive, unless such person is accompanied by any parent, guardian or other person having the legal custody of such child. After the time of 11:00 p.m. each evening and until 6:00 a.m. the following morning, and during the period hereinabove specified, all such children shall be required to be at home or out of the streets, alleys, parks and public places in the Borough herein provided for.

B.

After the time of 8:00 p.m. each evening and until 6:00 a.m. the following morning, and during the period hereinabove specified, all such children shall be required to be at home or out of the streets, alleys, parks and public places in the Borough herein provided for.

 

US Census Bureau is recruiting people to become Census Takers for the 2020 Census.  These positions offer competitive pay, flexible hours, paid training and weekly paychecks.  Census Takers in Pike County will earn $16.00/hour and be reimbursed $0.58/mile for travel while they work.  Successful applicants will be assigned to work as close to their own homes as possible. 537 Plan Lot Inspection

If you did not receive a On-Lot Sewage Survey and would like to volunteer for a lot inspection of your septic system please complete the linked survey. You may return it the Matamoras Borough Office or send it directly to HRG, their address and email are provide on the survey. The inspections are free, no risk, and no digging inspections. The surveys and inspections will help HRG assess where the highest need areas for public sewage are located within the Borough. The completion of the required amount of inspections increases our chances of receiving additional funding from grants.

  • These inspections are for the Act 537 Plan, which needs to be updated and can be used for 20 years of planning
  • The purpose is for needs identification of Act 537 Plan, which is required by the DEP
  • The inspections will be a quick visual survey (no digging)
  • We will not be directly reporting malfunctions to the SEO or other authorities
  • The Act 537 Plan is needed for grant funding. If it is not completed, there will be higher fees for connected users
